Arms, ammos recovered; 5 UG cadres netted

Security forces continued intensive search and area domination operations in vulnerable and fringe areas, leading to the recovery of a significant cache of arms and ammunition and the arrest of at least five UG cadres, according to a statement from the Police Control Room.
During a search operation on Sunday in Makhabasti area in Jiribam district, security forces recovered a M4 carbine with magazine, INSAS rifle with two magazines, SLR with a magazine, country-made SLR with magazine, four country-made single-barrel breech-loading guns, one Pumpi gun, four empty Pumpi bombs, a 36 HE hand grenade, approximately 150 grams of PK (gelatine), one metre of Cordex wire, a pistol with magazine, 60 rounds of 7.62 mm AK, nine rounds of 7.62 mm SLR, and five rounds of 5.56 mm ammunition.

Meanwhile, intelligence-based cordon-and-search operations aimed at curbing extortion activities led to the arrest of four cadres of the proscribed PREPAK (PRO) from various locations in Imphal East district on Sunday.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Thingbaijam Philip Singh of Kongba Kshetri Leikai; Lourembam Kumar Meitei alias Kanto of Haobam Marak, Lourembam Leikai, currently staying at Sawombung relief camp; Laishram Haridas alias Holaiba of Uripok Sorbon Thingel; and Yumnam Akash Singh of Hiyanglam Awang Leikai, Kakching district.
Based on their disclosures, security forces recovered four SLRs with 10 magazines (nine short, one long), two .303 rifles with same number of magazines, one LMG, a modified .303 sniper rifle, five magazines of .303 LMG, one INSAS LMG magazine, one INSAS magazine, 74 rounds of 7.62 mm LMG, eight rounds of 5.56 mm M4, 51 fired .303 cartridges, 341 rounds of .303, 114 ballistic training cartridges (.303), 19 SLR training cartridges, three ballistic training cartridges (7.62 mm), four 36 hand grenades, a Chinese hand grenade, three white phosphorus or smoke grenades, two additional smoke grenades, 10 Tube Launching 1A, a tube launcher, nine detonators for 36 hand grenades, four cap detonators, seven empty SLR cases, and 10 empty cases of .303 from the foothills of Kalika in Imphal East district.
In a separate operation the same day, police arrested a cadre of the banned People's Liberation Army (PLA), identified as Sanasam Rajesh Meitei (35) of Hiyangthang Mayai Leikai in Imphal West.
He was reportedly involved in extortion activities targeting schools and private clinics in Nambol area.
