MAPI Council observes foundation day

Manipur Peace and Integrity (MAPI) Council celebrated its 25th foundation day at the Loktak Hall of Manipur Press Club today.
The observance was graced by MAPI Council vice president Thangjam Samananda, member of Tharon Village Development Authority, Tamenglong Tabiyang Moita, Indigenous Minority of Manipur president Rengenson Thanga, Tuisenphai village chief Sh Nisosel Kharam and UPF, Manipur former president Khomdram Ratan as presidium members.
The main events of the function included offering floral tributes to the departed MAPI Council members and those killed during the unrest in Manipur, and distributing simple gifts to the families of the Council's founders and deceased members.
Speaking at the event, MAPI Council secretary M Neta stated that the Council was formed by about 600 youth clubs in Imphal East in response to a mass people's movement aimed at protecting Manipur's unity and integrity in June 2001.He said that MAPI Council's core objective is to safeguard Manipur's integrity and foster harmony among the people.
Saying that MAPI Council also played a key role in forming United Committee Manipur (UCM), Neta affirmed that the Council will continue to promote peaceful coexistence between the hill and valley communities.
