Imphal, July 01 2025: Uripok Apunba Lup (UAL) and Uripok Nupi Apunba Lup (UNAL) have extended heartfelt condolences on the passing of Leishangthem Leima Chanu (20) who was displaced from Kangpokpi Dailli Village by the Manipur crisis.

The young girl, who has been sheltering in Lamboikhongnangkhong Relief Camp, succumbed to eye cancer yesterday.

She was diagnosed in November, 2023 after feeling unwell and visiting a hospital for check-up, said a press release issued by UAL.

After the diagnosis, UAL and UNAL pooled funds and with the financial help of UK based Meiteis and other generous individuals, Leishangthem Leima Chanu was taken to Guwahati for treatment.

But after almost 2 years of treatment, she succumbed to the disease.

Condoling her untimely death, UAL and UNAL have thanked everyone who contributed towards Leishangthem Leima Chanu's eye cancer treatment.

UAL and UNAL have also offered prayers for Leima to rest in peace.
